What is the REACH Regulation?

The final version of REACH was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (volume L 396, pages 1- 849) on 30 December 2006. The legislation, now known officially as Regulation No. 1907/2006, entered into force on 1 June 2007.

• What’s Covered? All chemical substances, on their own or in mixtures / formulations or articles, that are manufactured and/or imported within the customs territory of the European Union.
• Who Does it Cover? Only legal entities (individuals and companies) operating within the EU.
• What Exporters Need to Know. Companies who export chemicals, mixtures, and articles containing certain substances to customers in the EU must also take action in order to avoid business disruption. More Information
• What If I Didn’t Pre-Register? Companies who did not pre-register may still be able to benefit from the transitional arrangements if certain conditions are met. Contact Us .
• Other Deadlines. The deadline for completion of the first round of registrations was 30 November 2010. This deadline applied to companies that have pre-registered substances that are produced in high volumes and/or substances of very high concern. Lesser hazard substances that are produced / imported in lower volumes will be subject to either a 2013 or a 2018 deadline.

Companies need to understand the impact of REACH on their product portfolio and they must be prepared to respond to questions from their EU customers.

Our Experience

We employ experienced staff most of whom have 20 years or more knowledge gained while working on international chemical control initiatives (EU, US, OECD) for industrial clients. Our staff includes PhD- and Masters-level toxicologists, chemists, and certified industrial hygienists. We have successfully pre-registered several hundred chemical substances as the Only Representative for more than 100 small and medium-sized chemical manufacturers / formulators, and we’ve served as the primary technical resource for the “on time” and “under budget” completion of various Lead Registrant dossiers on behalf of some of the largest chemical companies in the world.
